I need some help finding a way to block SP2 for XP. If some one can help, that would be apreciated. Everytime i sign into my XP acount, there it is, in all of its no glory! If anyone knows how to disable it, please tell me!
Incase your wondering, 1)I dont want SP2 because it comes up everytime someone signs on to an online game. Which then means that the game closes, and i have to say okay. By then i have been killed 5 different times! 2)It wont allow some of my programs to work properly, or they work properly, when they shouldnt (when im testing my system). Again, any help would be greatly taken thanks. |

You can't disable SP2. All you can do is uninstall it via Add/Remove Programs if you installed it yourself.
If it was already included in your Windows XP CD, then you can't remove it. RJ

That sounds like the automatic update rather than SP2, and it wants to install SP2 on your system. The automatic update is annoying, you can disable it in the control panel > automatic updates (and there turn it off).

It won't disable any update for Windows. It'll disable only the automatic update program that, when enabled, automatically looks for new updates and asks you to install (like the SP2, for example).
Whatever already is installed, remains installed and active until you remove it via Add/Remove programs. RJ |

Temporary block only.
Please note that the mechanism to temporarily disable delivery of Windows XP SP2 will be available for a period of 240 days from August 16. At the end of this period, Windows XP SP2 will be delivered to all Windows XP and Windows XP Service Pack 1 systems. |
