regdvd.exe ???

I'm currently running on windows xp and have noticed this regdvd.exe in my task manager processes, my question is, what is this file? what does it do?

The file runs my cpu at 97 - 100% quite often and I can't seem to figure out how to get it to stop.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Scan for viruses, trojans. and spyware. Google returns NO hits on "regdvd.exe". Can you end the process?

I've scanned for spyware, viruses and trojans, no go on on that.

I can end process but it immediately restarts again, I did a file search on my computer the only thing it came up with was a regdvd.exe.pf prefetch file. I started computer in safe mode ran spyware but the program was still running in safe mode, I went into msconfig and disabled all startup services, it still ran on start up. So I am at a loss of what to do with it.

Did you tell it to also search system and hidden files?

Read the sticky thread in the Security forum and post a HijackThis log.

Do a search on your hard drive for the file. The directory name or the properties for the file will give you more clues,

I concur with Statica on this one, often this type of search can reveal the name of the ambiguous .exe that keeps relaunching itself on reboot, as often the .exe is in the same folder as the file you know the name of. If you find a folder with some doubtfull looking file names before deleting them and possibly causing more problems, just google the name, you can almost guarantee that anything SAFE will show up on a google search.
