Hi,

backup your data first, just in case. Then go into the console and type

convert X: /FS:NTFS

Of course you have to replace X: with the letter of the partition you want to convert.
The conversion takes about a minute, and your data will remain intact.

Just remember. Going from FAT32 to NTFS is only a one way trip. You can go from FAT32 to NTFS, but once you do, the only way back to FAT32 is a format. And like RJ said, FAT32 to NTFS your data will remain intact. You should be able to go into "My Computer, Admin tools, Computer Management, then Disk Management" and right click, Format then convert file system to NTFS.

Actually, if you ever really need to convert from NTFS back to FAT, you can use Partition Magic to accomplish the task.

Actually that would format the disk and destroy all data on it.

The way to go is with the CONVERT X: /FS:NTFS command in a command window.
That would preserve data while converting the file system to NTFS.

The conversion back is not reliable. This is what has given that software the name "Partition Tragic". It's excellent software, but it does some things that can really cause problems.
