AVG and Zone Alarm Crashes WinXP Pro

After installing both programs and getting the proper udates, during restart windows kept restarting. I went to event viewer and found that both have failed to start. I had to remove them both inorder to boot into XP normally. I have downloaded all XP updates, but not SP2. So what would be your suggestion to correct this problem Thanks.....

You need a patch from roxio. AVG 7 has some issues with rebooting if you have or had ez cd creator installed (this is only on some configurations and specifically with HP Pavillions).

What does roxio have to do with AVG 7? I have used both in the past without any issues.

Roxio causes problems with AVG 7 in some configurations. Once you install AVG 7 your machine will continue to reboot. AVG has admitted that this is a problem but the problem belongs to roxio and roxio has issued a patch to correct it. It seems that the roxio driver loads too early in the boot stage and causes problems with AVG and since most people have the reboot on error turned on the machine reboots instead of displaying the error message and staying there. As I said, this is only in some configurations and very likely with the HP Pavilions. Instead of removing both AVG and ZoneAlarm, try removing only AVG and see if the computer boots. If it does and you have or had the Roxio software installed, then Roxio is likely your problem and you need the patch. This was not an issue with AVG 6.

Thanks I did remove AVG and now have no problems. I did remove the check mark to prevent it from rebooting, but It still did anyway. Now that AVG is uninstalled there is no problem. I will go and get the update from roxio and then reinstall AVG. Thanks again I will let you now how it comes out...
