Slow domain authentication

I have about 20 XP worksatations that take approx. 4 - 5 minutes to authenticate to the domain at log in. I have tried the pre-sp2 hot fix Microsoft suggested for this as well as sp2 itself. Still they are slow to log in. Has anyone found a way around this?

Have you tried disabling simple filesharing - and disable automatically search for shares and printers? These are both on the View tab in folder options. This will make it behave more like Win2000. I would also do drive mappings with login scripts instead of persistent Windows mappings.
