Is service pack 2 a security update?

I was wondering if the security updates that windows downloads automatically includes service pack two. I don't want to install the service pack right now because it makes some of my programs unusable (such as some games), but I still want to install the other security updates. I'm choosing custom install so that I can choose what updates I want but I don't see service pack listed there. Am I safe to install all of the updates listed?

If you don't want to install SP2, just take a custom install and review the list. It will try to force it on you, but it's easy enough to deny.
