You need to set your boot sequence to boot from CD first..... boot the machine, press the space bar when prompted to boot from CD... select Windows XP install, then repair installation.

When you restart, you will see a message at the bottom saying something like "Press any key to boot from CD." Press any key, then follow the directions.

As far as I know, when we insert winxp CD in the computer, it asks to either install winxp ,or repair winxp. In the latter option, it only repairs the windowsxp by replacing the corrupt files with the new once and performs other functions as well.

Regards,

When you do a repair installation it replaces all the system files but leaves your personal files. When you do a complete install it formats the drive and replaces everything.

Doesn't it give you the following options? I could be wrong...

Full format (recomended)
Quick format
Do not format
