Win98Se Startup Problem
Hi,
A friend of mine has Win98se. Everytime he cold boots his pc, he gets an error message telling him there was a problem with his registry and that windows is restoring from a previous backup. He shuts his machine down properly, has virus checked and scandisked his pc and none report errors. He has also reformatted his c: drive and reinstalled windows, but still gets the same problem. I've suggested that he download the win98 harddisk shutdown patch, though I don't know if this will make any difference as his hd is only 8gb. I'm thinking it might be a faulty harddisk. But would welcome any other feedback. Thanks for your time. |

Have your friend test his RAM with a memory tester like Memtest86+.
He should also test his hard drive out with the manufacturer's hard drive diagnostic utility. Cricket
