Win95/98 Splash screen question
I was talking with a potential customer today...
He was mentioning that on startup, his Win98 or 95 box has the Windows splash screen flash for a second or two, and then loads his POS software (DOS based program?). His question was if Windows was installed. I gave him a mixed answer, as the splash screen can pop up, an error might occur, and then the program will load from the autoexec.bat file... I would really appreciate it if someone could clear up the ways that a splash screen would appear and a program would load. Thanks, Mike |

Yes, the splash screen pops up when it's processing config.sys and autoexec.bat - and an autoexec entry that starts a dos program will stop the rest of Windows from loading.

that's what's confusing
if its loading a program before the WIN entry in the autoexec.bat, then when the person exits the program, windows should load, no? If its after the WIN entry, then it should run upon windows exiting/logging off. Mike |
