XP forgot my ethernet drivers? Wont accept them again. Help!
I haven't seen this problem sinse windows 98.
I have just finished installing most of the software i wanted on my new system. It took me forever to pick the stuff I wanted. Gigabyte 8KNXP is the board. OcZ ram. all the bells and whistles. I forked out so much cash just so problems like this wont happen! heheh well today I deleted a Bridge I had made with IEEE 1394 and Ethernet. It worked fine for a bit. I then uninstalled Blindwrite and then noticed I couldnt get on the net. It wanted drivers for my ethernet card. I managed to get them again and it wont accept it and says its the wrong one. It was working fine and I installed the same ones that worked before. Whats the deal?! Blind write revenge? Case of missing the network bridge? Please help! Thanks Juke |

If you aren't using the 1394 connection, Disable it. Go to Device Manager and Remove the LAN device. Reboot and let XP find the LAN again. Have you mobo CD ready to install the drivers.

I'm not entierly sure what fixed it in the end but I do believe you were right Panama.
it was not until i disabled the firewire in the bios and then enabled it again, that the problem was resolved. no matter how many times I reinstalled windows or drivers it didnt work until then and works great since. Thanks for your help! |
