Are you talking about items under the processes tab in the task manager?

They are just desktop wallpaper files why would you wish to delete them?

There small files that you can use to change your background. It wouldn't make a big difference if you deleted them.

Send a message via ICQ to RJ
These are bitmaps (*.bmp) and stored in the Windows folder (usually C:\Windows).

These wallpaper files that can be found either in your Windows directory (C:\Windows) or within your My Documents\My Pictures folder or subfolder.
If you cannot find them, simply remember the name of any picture you wish to delete, then go to Start > Search > and search the name of the picture. Then delete it out.

Just to add, it isnt necessary for the new windows OS' that they be just BMP's, they could also be JPGs.
