help system was fine a min ago

A64 3200 1gig pc3200 PNY 2x 160gb WD hdds K8N Neo2 Plat TNT2 vid card (like 5 yrs old getten a new 6800gt tomm)

so my system was fine about 10 min ago when i last checked it but i just went back to it and it froze. i pressed the restart button and it restarted. it posted fine then went into windows just after the dumb lil windows chime (at the welcome screen) it restarts its not connected to the internet and its running sp2

its running xp pro (sry forgot to mention that)

Do a full shut down...Then turn it back on.

Then look in device mangler->network card properties->power management and turn it off.

it wont let me into windows it goes to welcome screen then restarts before showing desktop

Try tapping the F8 key during boot to get into safemode selection screen and select "load with last known good configuration".

Go to safe mode again and actually start in safe mode, go to programs accessories and attempt a system restore back to before the problem arose.

ill be back on the 12th at around 10 eastern standard time ill try the safe mode thing tomm i gotta go now tho if you have ne more sugguestions id appreciate it

Any thing out of the ordinary happened recently like thunderstorms or power failures?

no not for a while it was up and running yesterday fine it ran prime95 for an hr w./ no errors and memtest went to like 78% w/o errors
