XP License
I have purchased a few copies of Windows XP over the last couple of years for my pcs. I have had to reformat and reinstall xp several times on my computers for a variety of reasons. Every time I reinstall xp I know it is required to activate windows again within the 30 day period. When I went to activate xp this time it will not let me. I know the reason it is doing this is because I have activated the same license several times; therefore, microsoft thinks I am using this illegally on more then one computer.
Is there anyway that I can just call Microsoft and explain this situation and have them let me activate it again. I know this may sounds like I am just trying to get some free software, but I am not. I just don't want to have to buy a new license everytime I have to reinstall xp. Thanks. |

Yup, just call them and explain. Hardware changes can sometimes prompt reactivation too.

Joe this is perfectly normal, just call the toll free number and they will just ask why you are calling and then ask if you have this same copy installed on more than one machine, you say "no" " I have just made a hardware change" and thats it, they will give you a code to type in.
