XP boot options
I recently used DriveImage to copy the c: drive on my PC. When it was done, I had 2 bootable drives (which was the goal, of course). When I was finished, I removed the new drive and did something else with it, leaving my original c: drive in the PC.
Because of the copy process, another operating system is now listed in the boot.ini file on my c: drive. XP thinks there is another OS on another drive in the machine. There isn't though. That drive was only there temporarily for the copy. Now it's gone. When I hit the "check all boot paths" button in msconfig, it recognizes that the second OS isn't there and it removes it. When I reboot though, it always comes back. I'm tired of seeing the boot options menu everytime I start my machine. How can I get rid of that reference for good? Thanks... |

Control Panel->System->Advanced->Start & Recovery tab
You can either change the start up time value of click the edit button to edit the boot.ini file and remove the second option. To avoid your situation next time, shut down after making the image and remove the second drive.
