I am having a bit of internet browser problems, mainly the fact that Internet Explorer won't start unless if you type in an address through normal Windows Explorer.

Not that I like IE at all (using Firefox mainly), and I can use Maxthon to open up normally IE pages, but is there a way to get IE to start up by clicking on the icon again? I have the error message attached below.

This sorta happened with the SP2 upgrade for Windows XP Home

And if there isn't anything that can be done, is it possible to uninstall IE?

(I tried with an administrator account too with no luck)

Look in the Tips and Tricks forum, there's a sticky thread with a link in it for a general purpose IE repair tool.

Have you considered uninstalling SP2? If you upgraded without doing heavy duty maintenance to make the system squeaky clean - especially viruses and spyware, SP2 can give you all kinds of grief.
