XP Administrator: Cancel or change
Hi... is there any way to change the designated administrator that XP arbitrarily named (to the first account formed)? Or better yet, to set up the computer with NO administrator. My daughter tried to load some software and she got messages something like "only the administrator can install this program".
I have XP on one of my machines, but as the only user I have never run into this problem. Thank you, Bruce cuzzzzz@worldnet.att.net |

go to user accounts in the control panel and click on your daughters account. then go to change my account type and select computer administrator then click on change account type and she'll have administrative privlidges.

Thank you
Markman385.. thank you very much.
I guess that XP is set up so there has to be an administrator... i.e., if my daughter is now administrator, will the other user of that computer now run into installation problems? If this is the case, would love to have no administrator. Thanks again for the speedy reply, cuzzzzz |

Nope, that won't change any other user's status.
