Corporate edition is one for large businesses. They buy a bulk license instead of a copy for each machine. It's Windows XP Pro. I would generally say it's safe to say when somebody comes onto forums and says "I bought Windows XP Corporate Edition", that it is a pirated copy as you cannot buy a single license of Corporate Edition... it's meant for businesses buying large quantities of licenses. To be honest... I'm not sure they're even using that naming scheme anymore.

o ok, thanks hal. and just to clear things up, they didn't say they had it. they just mentioned that it was a version of XP. is there any differences in it and Pro other than you buy it in bulk or is it identical to Pro but when you buy a bulk order of it they just slap "Corporate Edition" on the CD?

The only difference is that the Corporate Edition of Windows XP Pro does not have the product activation.

To the best of my knowledge, it will all depend on what CD key is used. They use XP Pro at the univeristy and with the key they have, no activation is required.

we also use XP Pro at my High school and there is no activation required.

so the only difference is that the corp doesn't require activation? if you use a corp key on XP it "turns" it into corp?? thats kinda neat but really dumb! thats easier than priating win98!! i would think there would be something else to it! well, i guess its not easy to get a corp key tho. 1) it would cost a ton, 2) i don't think a large company will just give you a key just because you ask them! lol

well, thanks for the info guys!

No, a corp key will not work on a non-corp CD.
