System Instability with USB Devices
Hey everybody,
This problem has occured many times when I noticed that Firefox somehow downloaded a Trojan Horse on my computer. I noticed the file was inside Firefox's folder. I removed it with Trend Micro, and destroyed all Spyware found. Then the USB problem was fine. I got the Trojan Horse again, and I removed it and removed any spyware found. The USB problem did not go away. The problem is when I unplug my Webcam, the system becomes unstable. I cant access the control panal, device manager, or reboot properly. Although, when I am in Device Manager, and I replug the Webcam, I do get a message that Windows found it. But immediately after I close out of Device Manager, system becomes unstabe(Cant access device manager any more, control panal, or reboot correctly.) I reinstalled the USB drivers, and it did not do anything. The thing is, it worked fine about a month ago(Atleast I think it did) . I tend to keep my PC very clean(Viruses, Spyware, etc) . Let me know if you guys need more details. Thanks! System Specs: Windows 2000, ASUS P4P800 Deluxe, Pentium 4 2.6Ghz 800FSB HT, ANTEC 430 Watt "TruePower", 2x512MB Corsair XMS PC3200 RAM, Soundblaster LIVE, Onboard LAN, Geforce FX 5200 128MB, 120GB Western Digital HD, Lite on 8X DVD+R/+RW Drive, Generic Floppy. Update: Apparently does only occurs with The USB Printer and USB Webcam. I am able to plug/eject(Proper Ejection) with the USB Flash Drive, and system is stable. Webcam is a Logitech Quickcam, and Printer is Lexmark All in One Z5150. TIA! Last edited by Markoman01027; 01-17-2005 at 01:17 PM. |
