reinstall win me
this is gonna be a stupid one but here goes. my nephew needs to reinstall windows me on his computer. he has the product key on his case, but no disk. here is the dumb part. aside from the obvious, (borrowing a disk from someone) is there any other way to get the windows me program? it is a dell computer, but he doest have the restore disk, and i cant find anyone with the program, or any way to order it from the dell website. oh and the reason he needs to reinstall is because he took his hard drive out of his computer and put it in his play station 2. WOW.

His best bet if he wants to reinstall ME is call Dell, they may be able to replace the CD. However, he may be better off buying a new OEM copy of XP Home for around 90 bucks - it's a far superior operating system, and a new copy of ME is going to cost just as much. I'd recommend that he have at least 256mb of ram and at least a 10gb hard drive to do that.

I agree with going XP if that's possible for you. If the machine is still functioning and has a CDRW drive, you can burn the contents of the C:\WINDOWS\OPTIONS\CABS folder (if it exists). Keep in mind, this is just the WinME program, not the full restore files that would be included with a Dell recovery CD.
