Eliminating my processes.
i have a screenshot of my 29 running processes at the bottom of this thread. When i took it i purposly had firefox running, and in the background AVG and MS anti-spiware were on protecting my PC, other then that there hsould be nothing but hwat windows needs.
So what can be eliminated, and how do i eliminate it (make it so those processes don't load auto anymore) |

Well, I can't tell you what to eliminate since the removal of some of these processes will either not be possible or will cause your computer to behave anomalously. For comparisson, I'll list what our computers are running in common. I'll try to list the purpose of the processes as well.
Application Layer Gateway - alg.exe, This program provides optional utilities like the Windows Firewall and ICS. If you're not using either one of them then you should not be seeing this program run. NOTE: this runs in my background too even though I use a 3rd party firewall. "lsass.exe is a system process of the Microsoft Windows security mechanisms. It specifically deals with local security and login policies." NOTE: don't confuse this (as I just did) with lass.exe because that suggests a trojan is present. "svchost.exe is a system process belonging to the Microsoft Windows Operating System which handles processes executed from DLLs. This program is important for the stable and secure running of your computer and should not be terminated." "spoolsv.exe is a Microsoft Windows system executable which handles the printing process to your local printers." Actually, I'll just link you to the site I'm finding these: Hijackthis is a good program that gives a few more detailes about what you're system is running. Also, if you want to stop any programs or processes from running, if they can (I mean "can" but not necessarily "should") be removed, go to start menu-"run" and type in: msconfig. Go to the startup tab and unselect the unnecessary processes you don't want running upon bootup. Sometimes this can be better done if the specific program allows you to opt for running at startup or not running at startup. Hope this helps. ~STU~

"The pages below are from our in-house database and provide guidance on the usefulness or not of these programs, and removal procedures when recommended."

Go to www.blackviper.com. Follow his advice, and disable what he recommends, and you should be OK. AND, you'll have a lot less processes running.
