Yes. If you want it to work really well, install another 256 megs of RAM into it. Buy an OEM copy of Windows XP from www.directdeals.com You can upgrade from Win98, or do a fresh install, which I would recommend. Backup all the files you wish to save. Load the XP disk into the CD ROM drive. Reboot, go into Setup (BIOS) set the CD ROM as the first boot device. It'll boot to the XP CD, you have several options. I recommend a format using the NTFS file system. From there just follow the onscreen prompts to install XP.

Unless you are certain on wanting to upgrade to XP, you would most likely be better off to go to a Win2K upgrade with that system. I'm not saying that system won't run XP, but it may be a little overwhelmed.

Sorry to hijack this but I'm curious. How advantageous is it to update the BIOS? Will it really improve performance all that much? I've heard that doing a BIOS upgrade is, how can I say, hazardous? Tho I will admit that I don't know all that much about it.

It can be very important when you are trying to install a 2001 operating system on a 1998 motherboard.
