Infinite Restarting/new XP install issues
I just installed XP tonight on my new hard drive (running dual hard drives now, actually both still have xp, but I am going to format the old one). I first had to combat adware, I have no idea how I got it. When I ran adaware it would give an error, and say some kind of error, and the pc will restart in 60 seconds. Using hijack this and disabling start programs I ended up running adaware, and deleting some stuff with spy bot or w/e it is called. I still have bargain buddy which I can't get rid of, spy bot just exits after 10 seconds or so of trying to delete it.
I went ahead and installed other windows updates and sp2. I put in one of my cds I had used before that had drivers and stuff on it (came with my Syntax 400 something motherboard), but I got a windows 16 bit subsystem error, saying it wasn't suitable for being run in windows. It worked fine the first time. I found a sound driver (I have none currently) on win update, and started downloading it. Almost immediately my pc restarted. Now, every time my pc comes on I restart. Give it a few seconds once it louds, and it restarts. I have no idea why, it was working fine before. My temperature was at an even 39 C, which is normal. Any help would be GREAT! I am about to go crazy. |
