Are there other users on the PC? It is possible to clear that list manually so maybe a family member cleared it without telling you.

I say, use the "Pin to Start Menu" option in WinXP. I don't track my recently used programs, I just have a list of the ones I use all the time. Browse through your Program Files folder and find the .exe file that launches the programs you use the most. When you find one you want, right click on the .exe and select Pin to Start Menu. This way, it will always be there for quick access and you won't have this problem again.

Hope this helps a bit.

Edit: by the way, if you are curious about the recent programs list, right click your start button, click Properties. Under the Start Menu tab, select Customize. You can specify how many programs it should track and also clear it.

No body touches this PC other than me. No one cleared it. Clearing it now doesn't reset it. There are no other user accounts on this PC. I even have the automatic administrator and help users disabled.

I have some programs I use often pinned, but I like the unpinned ones that change. It helps when I'm doing a project that uses 2 or 3 programs. After the first few launches, they show up there.
