How does Microsoft know ??
Hi ... I'm curious as to how Microsoft would know with other programs that may cause problems with service pack 2 ?? If you look at this link here below they have a list of programs that have problems with service pack 2 , Now how would they know this info ?? Does Microsoft get their info from their staff or from the outside world , user's like us all ?? Reason as to why i am asking is because i have some of these programs that they list and I never had a problem with service pack 2 and my programs , I even had service pack 2 when it first came out , so how do they figure this out ??? Thanks

I suppose some data comes from the massive beta test they did of SP2 - when people found an application that didn't work they added it.
Other data could come from bug reports that get sent (if they actualy read those). Also, if a company has a product that doesn't work they could inform M$ of it (probably after releasing a patch). These are just guesses, but it seems the most likely sources of their data. |

There are beta testers before finally releasing a software. They will test it in different machines and can find out what are the incompatible programs. There are different stages in software development. 1) Problem Identification 2)Gathering Data 3)Development 4) Testing 5)Implementation.
