Processes....svchost.exe
Can someone tell me why there are so many processes running with the name
svchost.exe? Some have User Name.. Local Service, Network Service, a couple of them are System. What are these .exe's doing, and do I need all of them running? My computer seems to be slower than my old AMD 900Mhz. |

Virus scan time. Several of those running are legit, but viruses can spawn more instances.

How many do you have? I have 5 running with a mix of those names you mention.
svchost is a part of windows: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=314056 scvhost is not and indicates an infection(s): http://www.google.com/search?client=...=Google+Search |

I have six of them running right now. I have PCcillin running and have scanned.
