how do i remove the red Windows Security Alerts icon on the taskbar for SP2?

After installing SP2, this red Windows Security Alerts icon always loads on the taskbar along with Windows. I've tried Selective Start Up and it's still there. How do i remove this annoying icon besides turning on Automatic Update? Thanx guys.

I think once you configure it, it will go away. Firewall, updates, antivirus. Its probably looking for an anti virus program. Double click on it and go through the settings and taylor it to your needs.

Go to Control Panel > Security Center
From the left (Resources section)
Click the link that says : Change the way Security Center alerts me Uncheck the box for Automatic updates.

BTW .. have you tried seeing what the updates are for? Just because you have SP2 doesnt mean that you have all the security updates, there are a number of post SP2 security updates that is highly recommended you download. If you want personal input on whether security updates are installed, I'd suggest turning the setting to Notify you before downloads for automatic updates. That way, you at least know when there are patches available, without XP installing it automatically without your knowledge.
