Lightbulb xp sp2 product key change

hi i have a co-worker that purchase xp pro sp2 and somehow he lost his box or cd sleeve with the product key on it. So on install he cant go past the screen to enter the product key. I google some help on changing the key but most of those sites if you download something it's ridden with ad and spyware which i had a hard time getting off my comp.If anyone know how he can be helped it will be welcomed. All he's left with is his store receipt for the purchase. Thank you very much.

Circumventing product keys is not something to be discussed here. Try calling MS, and maybe they will issue a key if he can show his proof of purchase.

ya i dont think they'll like this here. Even if he has the product, its still an illegal key. Anyways, your just gonna have to look aroudn or try Kazaa or something. But if your "friend" actually "lost his legally purchased copy of Windows SP2 CD Key" then he could call Microsoft. But since I'm going to assume it wasn't legally purchased, figure out your own ways to get Windows up and running.

Best advice given is call MS and have your friend plead his case. Since discussion of piracy is against Forum Rules and this will no doubt result in a piracy discussion, I'm closing this thread.
