MS Word is part of the MS Office suite... did you install that?
You can get it seperately but it generally is installed with the rest of the Office suite. Do you have Excel, Power Point, Access, etc...? They are also part of Office.

If it's not on the resotre CD and you don't have the Office/Word CD, then there aren't really too many options (unforutunately).
How was it installed (or was it installed at all) on your system originally (i.e. before your recovery)? |

As said, Word is part of Office, not Windows. You won't find it on your Windows CD (unless it's a special recovery CD that says it has office, or word, on it).

Windows has Wordpad - this is a usable basic word processor. You can also download Open Office, it's free and Word-compatible.

By the way, as a side note: instead of posting 2 or 3 posts in a row, there is an "Edit" button in your posts to allow you to add to one if you need to give more info. This way the thread won't grow so fast making it harder to follow. Thanks. ![]() Edit: very true glc... and as far as I know, Wordpad is compatible with MS Word when you save in .rtf (Rich Text Format). A very good alternative that should already be installed with Windows. Last edited by Stryker; 01-27-2005 at 08:33 AM. |

But that Version is very old, and was designed for Windows 3.11, so it doesn't support long filenames, for example. RJ |

Assuming that you do want Word back, are you a student or do you have kids who are? If so then you qualify for the Student Teacher version of Office that is much less expensive than even the regular version and cheaper than the stand alone Word package.
It contains Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook, full versions, fully supported by MS, the catch is it does not qualify for the next version as an upgrade from product, but it is chepaer than the upgrade of standard office anyway so who cares? . Newegg price 126.00 http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...116-136&depa=6 vs regular version at 170.00 I you do not need Excel, Powerpoint etc. and only want Word then a great price for it is MS Works, it has Word as a component of the suite, but the rest of the 'office' is pretty basic. But Newegg has it for 43.00.

Keep in mind too that the Student and Teacher version of MS Office can be installed on up to 3 computers - legally. Also note that the 2003 version is only compatible with XP and Windows 2K.

I still have Office 95 Standard Edition on floppies. There are 25 floppies that I have. Not totally sure if it will work with 2K or XP. For sure you won't be able to get any updates.
