a computer only has 1 host file. It is located in C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc for windows xp, C:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc for windows 2K and in C:\windows for Windows 98 and ME. Only edit your hostfile if you know wat you are doing and make a backup first. If you want to replace your hostfile with one like this http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm just replace the file called host in the folders listed above. But be sure its a trusted source.

It's HOSTS, not host. No extension. It's a standard text file.
