invalid true type font
When trying to load win98_se on the drive setup gives me the message
'an invalid true type font has been detected....' if win98_se cant use a font, then why load it is this message coming from the floppy boot disk or the cd with win on it? |

This is usually the symptom of a hardware error.
If you try reloading Windows again, I'd imagine you'll get either the same error, or a blend of random errors. It is commonly caused by a memory problem, but can also be a damaged CD, faulty motherboard, or overheating. Overly aggressive over-clocking, or mis-matched settings in the Bios (for cpu and memory timings, for example), can be causes too. Test things one at a time. Might start by reviewing the Bios settings carefully. While in the Bios, you can also check the cpu and system temps. Check your installation CD for scratches, too [if the error really was caused by a scratch, it would happen in the exact same place every time = it's a rarer problem]. Then try MemTest86 ( http://www.memtest.org ) to test the memory. You could test the hard drive with a diagnostic from your hard drive manufacturer's website. Best of luck . . . Gary |
