Favorites file in Internet Explorer
I am formatting a HD for a friend, and I want to save his "Favorites" to place them on the newly formatted drive.
I know where the Internet Explorer directory is, but what is the file which stores the favorites? |

What operating system? On XP/2K(I guessing 2K) it is C:\Documents and settings\Username\Favourites\ where c is the system drive and username is the user.
On Win9x I believe it is c:\Windows\Favourites |

You can go to IE and click "File" > "Import and Export". A wizard will open and you can export the Favorites to a floppy or CD or wherever. Just use the same wizard on the new machine to import them.
