I need help please!

I just bought a new computer to replace my old Gateway
Performance 450.

I hooked it up and got it going and installed all the pertinent software. It's hooked up to my old View Sonic VX900 19" Flat Screen. Everything works fine, except the screen and fonts are funny looking, like the old style COBAL letters on a green vacuum tube type screen. I can change the fonts going through Properties, Appearance, Advance, Fonts, etc,... but even though the fonts have "changed", they still have that old style appearance. Furthermore, all my programs including the internet look "different". On the other hand, digital photos come up looking GREAT!

Could it be that I need a DVI cable instead of the regular monitor type cable?

Here is what the new PC has. Perhaps, somewhere in all this someone can tell me what is going on. Thanks

CPU - Intel P4 3.0G 800F 1MB S478 OEM
RAM - (2) 512 DDR400
Video Card - VGA, MX4000 64M T AGP NV97-LX EVGA

Thanks!

Mark

Are you sure you have the corect drivers installed for your vid card. When you go to display properties are all the settings available for resolution and color depth?? Check device manager under display adapter and see what it thinks is installed..

What resolution are you using? A 19 inch flatpanel is designed to be run at native resolution which is 1280x1024. Anything less is going to look kinda funky because of pixel interpolation.

GLC,

That's the ticket! I had to slide the resolution bar all the way over to the right to make it work.

Everything looks better now.

Thanks
