Slow Boot On XP Pro
I installed Windows XP on my computer a while back and for a good time it was running smoothly and the boot time was minimal. Now that it has been used for about a half a year the boot time takes about three times longer than it did when I first intsalled. Can anyone help me solve this problem?

One thing that will slow down a pc considerable is not doing a defrag, clean out your cookes, too many start up items in the task bar etc.......
Go into my computer, right click on the c drive choose properties, do a disk clean up. Then go to desktop properties, desktop choose none. do the same for screensavor, and close all runing programs in the taskbar. After that do a defrag and that should speed up things......

Do you have any anti-spyware utilites installed on your computer to remove any Spyware or Adware? doubledragon5's suggestions should be used as well as mine. Also, have you checked your computer for virus' lately? Or do you have an anti-virus program?

I have Ad-aware and SpyBot S&D and AVG Antivirus on my computer. I am running the defrag as we speak and I did disk clean up. I'll let you know how it turns out.

You should always check each one for updates prior to doing a scan.
