Removal of Windows XP

Ok, so I got windows Pro today and installed it with the new install. I figured it would just overwrite WinXP home, but it didn't(should've done the Upgrade probably). But now, I can't uninstall windows because it says that there isn't any back-up files for the previous OS(most likely for WinXP home). I'd make the back-up, but unfortunatly my CD-RW isn't working and don't have enough floppies.

So is the only way around this reformatting or is there some other way?
