Can't access task manager

When I try and access task manager I get a pop-up box with the current user (me) and the options to either disconnct or logoff. There is no other way to get rid of this box except to chose one of these options. I am the only user on the computer but I did notice it says "console" under the session column in the pop up box that makes me either disconnect or logoff. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

How are you accessing Task Manager? Ctrl Alt Del? Or are you right clicking on the taskbar and clicking on Task Manager?

Is this a stand a lone pc?
Did you make any changes to group policies?
What changes did you make to the pc prior to this happening?

the other thing you can do is right click on the task bar and hit task manager. not a solution, but an end-around
