Help please!!

I recently swapped everything into a new case and when I started the computer up it won't boot. It just simply stops at the Windows logo. Safe Mode boots fine so the disk is fine. I think I might of put some PCI cards in different spots then before. Could this be causing the problem??? Any help would be greatly appreciated..........

You can either pull all the PCI card and then install them one by one...or you can try a Windows XP Repair Install.

What kind of computer are you moving? A home built one or a store bought name brand?

This is a home built PC. I'm using Windows XP Pro and yes I only moved the parts to a new case and I did not add anything new. I'm pretty sure I put the PCI cards in the same spots, but I am not 100 percent sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated....now I gotta go to my friends house do to my homework since my PC isnt working

Do you have a AGP slot? If you do make sure no PCI card is in the first slot under the AGP

yes, there is a card in the AGP slot, but the PCI slot under it is free. I dont get it everything works in safe mode, but windows wont boot. It has to be a driver/hardware conflict isnt it??

Remove all the PCI cards and see if it boots. If it does, put them back one at a time.

I removed all the pci cards but still no luck. I'll try to remove my video card and boot it up maybe it's causing the problem. When I was moving all the parts I kept turning the machine on and off while testing the fans, could this cause the problem because I wasnt shuting it down properly. I think i exhausted all my options Im gonna go stand in the corner and cry......

Test your RAM with Memtest86+

Try replacing the IDE or SATA cables.

All is good

Thanks Cricket, it was a bad IDE cable, I guess I twisted it too much and it went bad, but I replaced it and now I can boot into Windows. It was the one running from the CD rom drive and I guess thats why it kept getting stuck at "Launching Windows" thanks again pce

I got it, what I did was when moving my parts is I got rid of one of the cd rom drives and I guess windows had a problem with my HD being set to master on IDE 2 and my CDRW being set to Mastrer on IDE 1, I switched the CDRW to slave and it boots fine.

pce
