What format is the audio file in? Your best bet is to use a native audio file that Windows can understand without the use of 3rd party codecs. For example, if it is in MP3 there are too many formats of mp3 that might not be understood properly by MovieMaker. The safest method is to use wav files and then work with them.

Windows moviemaker will only recognize wav files.
Also want to warn you that moviemaker files will only play on movie maker and media player. I know their copy says there are devices etc that will play moviemaker files, but I've never seen it. So if you want to play your movies on a DVD player for all to see use another program. Last edited by Statica; 02-10-2005 at 01:00 PM. Reason: Removed a ton of white space after your post |

I couldn't get WMM to import anything but wav files.
I haven't seen any DVD players that will play the WMV files thopugh they may be out there. My feeling is that if you want to burn to DVD, you're better off doing it through another video editing program. |
