windows update question

i have auto update enabled but when i open windows update manually today and i saw a few critical updates on the site. my question is why doesn't auto update tell me about these updates

It lags behind a lot, I don't know the reason why, but it happens to me to. I just make sure to go there once in a while to be sure.

now i have a two other computer that auto update told the other two about the updates but what about mine. is it also because of lag. and what makes this happen
