RUN DLL Problem?

I just d/led newest update for win xp home. After d/l & install, it asked to restart the pc. During the restart, this messege apprears on the monitor;

frequency out of range.

Now I can't use the computer in normal mode.

Now i'm in Safe mode. But during the boot, this messege window pops out;

Run DLL
Erro loading C:/windows/system32/NvCpl dll
A dynamic link library (DLL) initiation routine failed

Is this error caused by my graphic card comparability issue?
One of the update was for the graphic card (NNVIDIA GeForce4 MX 4200).
During the install, a window warning popped up and said,
it was about to overwrite existing English version with unknown language version. So I clicked no to that.

my pc
Dell DIM4500 window xp home
Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.00GHz
254MB RAM
DirectX 9.0b
NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 420

****UPDATE****

So-called latest update from MS for Nvidia wasn't so up-to-date afterall.
This is what I d/led earlier today and created the problem.

Microsoft Corporation - Video - NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 420
nVidia driver version 52.16

I already had newer version and now I upgraded to version 66.93.
This seems to solve the problem, although now it asks to update my WMplayer 9 to 10.

yak,

My suggestion would be to uninstall the driver for the video card in safe mode. Then reboot and go to Nvidia's site to download the latest driver for your card. Or, if you have a version on CD that came with the card you could load that one after rebooting. But, I would check Nvidia's site to make sure you have the latest driver.

thanks for your suggestion. As you can see my original post, I updated my problem with a tentative solution of my own. But I think you nailed the problem. However, I didn't uninstall 52.16. Rather, i just d/led and installed 66.93 over it. I hope this would not create any more problem. Thanks.

Sorry yak...didn't see your update posted. I think you'll be fine with just installing the new driver without uninstalling the old.
