Is there a way to download SP2 for WinXP Home and burn it to a CD so I can install it on another computer?
Here is why I want to do it: I installed it on my main machine with no problems in a matter of minutes. When I tried to install it on my son's machine (Celeron 366 320MB RAM), after 4 hours it was only half done! So I stopped the install. Can I download SP2 and burn it to CD so I can install it on my kid's computer? Thanks!

Sure. That's the best way to do it.
You only download it once, and can use it as often as you want: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en Just ignore whatever MS is trying to say on that page, it's just rubbish anyway. On that page you will find the full download of XP SP2. RJ

Microsoft also has free CD of SP2 available. I got mine withen a week of ordering.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/d...s/default.mspx Download Adaware and Spybot search and destroy and run them before installing SP2 , spyware is a cause of problems when installing Sp2. |

If you can't wait for a CD and you have broadband, just download it - I think it's about 270mb. Takes about an hour on a 768k PPPoE DSL connection.

Worth noting that the SP2 cd does not contain any verbage preventing reproduction. It just says "Not for resale". I've made copies for several friends so they can upgrade their own machines rather than wait for one in the mail.

If you are going to the trouble of downloading and keeping SP2 for your further uses, slipstreaming is not a bad idea. Read this: http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase...slipstream.asp
