stand by issue with new vid card
Sorry if this is not the right fourm, not sure if it is a software or hardware issue.
I recently installed a new video card and now the computer will not come out of standby. O/S: XP Home. Vid card: XFX Geforce fx 5200. When returning form standby the system wakes up and then locks up, the display refuses to wake up and stays in its own standby mode. As a stop gap, I have disabled the standby option in the os. Sugestions for making this work would be appercaited. Thanks. |

Have you gone into the display properties/screensaver/power to set the monitor settings?

Maybe you could change some power settings in the BIOS/update the BIOS to resolve the issue. It could also just be a virus or something. Drivers possibly?

Don't put the computer in standby. Windows power management is not an exact science. I have everything set to "never" except the monitor, it's on 20 minutes.
