minor problem with shared docs
So, this morning, I felt like rearranging the shared files on one of my computers on my home network. I use this particular computer as a make-shift server of sorts. By that I mean, it holds all the pictures, music and documents that all computers might need access to. I had all my music files in the "My Music" files in "My Documents". I was sharing that file as a network place over the network. I decided that to cut back on the numbers of files in "My Network Places", I would take advantage of the "Shared Music" file in "Shared Documents". So I cut and paste all the stuff from "My Music" to "Shared Music". Upon doing so, the "Shared Music" renamed itself to "My Music" and lost its speical icon with the note in the folder. My main problems with this are a) I liked the old picture and want it back and b) calling it "Shared Music" mathces it up with the "Shared Videos" and "Shared Pictures" and I like it when things match. I tried renaming it, but a message popped up and said "My music is a system folder needed by Windows and cannot be moved or renamed." or something. And when you click properties, there's no "Change Icon" option. I just want to know if there is a better way to getting the file back how it was before than copying and pasting the "Shared Music" folder from another computer onto there and then moving all the music into it. Thanks.
Oh yeah, by the way, I had to redirect my ITunes and WMP files to that. They by default are aimed at "My Music". Does this have anything to do with it?

I may be wrong but I think the answer lies with the hidden desktop.ini file. When you copied and pasted all your music files, you probably also copied the desktop.ini file from the music folder over the one for the shared music folder. By editing the desktop.ini file in notepad you may be able to fix the problem, but without knowing what was in the one for the shared music folder, it would be a hit and miss affair.

You need to have the folder options set to show Hidden files and folders, and hide protected operating files unselected, to to see the desktop.ini files.
