Widows XP Home Install Question
I have Office XP. During reformats I have had to call Microsoft to get clearance for Activation. Never a problem, so i am familiar with that procedure.
I have a new copy of XP Home, sealed, COA, all legal... If I reformat or gut my machine or format the old HD and build a new machine will I be able to still use my copy of XP as long as it is on my one machine? Does it work the same way as Office XP. In other words, call Microsoft, explain and it's A-ok? I am new to this Forum so thanks for your responses. |

I'd assume it would be ok. Activating Windows after a reformat never gave me a problem. I've only done it online though....

The new copy of XP will activate over the Internet easily. If you have to wipe and reinstall within 120 days, it will take a call to reactivate.
