XP boot Not work after new MOBO install
I put a new motherboard in a system, brother in-law had xp home put on by another person and dows not have the disc. Is there anyway to make the old HDD work with XP on the new system? I am not familiar with the XP and how it works, old drive gave a screen that said there was a problem and I put in my HDD with Win 98 and the system boots fine.
All help appreciatted Thanks,

Do you know if someone else's cd will work? I mean if I bought/borrow one would it work and not require the key code info? Sure would not want to buy it and then give it to my brother in-law, I could use it for my self then. What about the versions, Pro? Home, Up-grade vs full version? OEM?
If any will work I may be able to borrow one then. Thanks, |

Thanks for the info, I put his Win98 back on it yesterday evening and that is what he gets for not getting the disc from the other guy fixing him up last time. I have no idea if it was legal or not. Win 98 is working fine.
Again thanks This thread is completed |
