"Windows file not suitable" while installing program
Hey guys. Ran into a little problem while trying to install a business directory onto my pc from a disk. Ive installed the directory onto my other pc's and its just one giving me problems but its one of my main pc's so it needs to be solved. Here is the message followed by a rundown of my specs
C:\Progra~1/Symantec\S 32EVNT1.DLL Intallable virtual device driver failed DLL initializaztion. Choose close to terminate the application. **I pressed ignore and this message came up 16 Bit Windows System C:\Winnt\System32\Autoexec.NT The system file is not suitable for running MS-Dos and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose "close" to terminate the program. **Again, I pressed ignore and it closed the installation. If you choose close it of course, closes the installation as well Not sure why symantec is included in the above message. We dont have nortan anymore and after a search of the hd, no files come up symantec. PC Specs: MS Windows XP with SP2 |

I swear I need to have a macro for this............
http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=118705 Not getting on your case, but this gets asked every few days, and a forum search on autoexec.nt hits this thread. Try the quick fixes in the link I posted in that thread. As far as the Symantec error goes, you need to check your startups with msconfig and check your services list - sounds like you didn't get a complete uninstall when you removed your Norton stuff. HijackThis should be able to find and fix these. Last edited by glc; 02-18-2005 at 08:14 AM. |
