smokin Favorites folder MS-DOS, where is it ?

My Win98 installation is down, beyond restoration. I need the Favorites folder for a re-install. Looking in the Windows directory (ms-dos), the folder isn't visible. Searching for a Favorites file, "C:\DIR C:\GOOGLE~1.URL/S", doesn't find it. The folder, "FAVORI~1", just isn't there.

The same is true with a good installation of Win98. Favorites is found, only when viewed from Windows Explorer.

I cleared all attributes and made files visible, "ATTRIB -A -R -H -S C:\*.*", but no luck.

Any suggestions ? Perhaps a software or a different approach ?

That brought it up.

Couldn't find it all from C:\WINDOWS\CD FAVORI~1

Type it either way now, and there it is ... Thanks.

Stick the drive in a working computer as a slave and get it off that way - or you will lose ALL long file names doing it your way.

That'll work. As it was, I disabled BootMagic and enabled System Commander. Then I could see the partition and folders from the other partition. No problem from there on. Just couldn't understand why the folder wouldn't show in MS-DOS. Then I guess computers aren't perfection, just error correction.

Thanks.
