WIN XP problem

Today I wanted to erase my HD and reinstall the OS. I get to the part were it askes you if you want to install XP and I press the enter button. Next I have to scroll down and read the usual disclaimer stuff and it says to press F8 if you agree or esc if you don't. This is were I get stuck, When I press F8 nothing happens but if I press esc it basically reboots my computer. How come I can't get to the screen were I get to pick the partition and make a new one?

thanks

Make sure you go into the bios first and see if it sees the hard drive .Then , also make sure you are loading the cd from the master cd drive. Check that the jumpers on the back of your drives are configured correctly, any wrong setting on these can have an effect on initial installs.

Verify that the boot options are set to cd rom , hard drive,

post back , let us know where you get.

What kind of computer is this? A home built one or name brand? What are the complete specs by brand and model.

Are you using a genuine MS WinXP installation CD or a burned copy?

Very true! Or use a different keyboard that doesn't have hot keys.
