reinstalling

If i want to reformat my harddrives, can i reinstall win xp from the same cd im using now, even if its already activated. Or do I have to buy another win xp?

The activation is to make sure it's only running on one computer at a time.
If you reformat the hard drives you can use the same copy of XP as often as you want, no need to buy another ( don't give M$ ideas ).
