2k back to 98se

I have this old PC chips mobo,pentium 233mhz,128meg pc100 ram,10 gig maxtor HDD,16meg vid card,ISA 56k modem,----And what I did is to upgrade the OS from 98se to 2k,and none of the stuff is compatible,SO now I would like to change it back to win98se,,,,now since it is now NTFS and not fat32 can I just put my 98 disk in and reinstall back?????( I dont want to lose all the good stuff on the drive,its been kind of an old back up machine)..TIA....GaryD

Nope... to go back to 98, you need to erase the drive. It is possible to convert back to FAT32 with a program like Partition Magic tho.

I have PM8,will that allow me to reinstall 98se without erasure??

Nope, when you converted to NTFS you went past the point of no return. You need to back up all the stuff you need or slave the drive into another machine to get the files off. It's gonna have to be wiped.

thanks glc its a good thing I partitioned the drive before I did this,the other part is still fat32,I'll just move what I want keep and format the C: drive and reinstall 98se...
