File search
When I click on "start" - "search" - "files or folders" I come up with a blank screen that shows nothing.
I also notice that in the control panel, when I click on "user account", I get a blank screen. Could I have turned something off in my startups to cause this. Thanks

!) All the steps you suggested - when I click on install, I get a message that "The file msgr3en.dll on windows xp home edition sp/2 is needed" In the location window it says copy files from C:Windows\inf\i386 I click ok and get a tink sound and nothing happens I try again and instead of using the C drive, I choose browse I select the drive the xp disc in in (i) and that shows me a file name of VRMHOEM_EN and 5 folders. I selected I386 and it installed something, but the issue is not fixed. Still have the blank screen when I try a search. Is there a step missing or did I miss something? |

Never mind folks, I un-installed AVG anti-virus, and Diskeeper to aviod conflicts with another program I have, i.e. System Mechanic5 Professional and installed it.
First I ran the registry repair feature, then did a full system virus scan. I found and selected "fix" on 48 registry errors, found 0 virsus, re-booted the system and everything now works. I guess you just have to keep throwing knives at these grimlins.
